Karen H Simpson, FRCA, is Consultant in Pain Medicine (Leeds Teaching Hospitals), Senior Clinical Lecturer (University of Leeds) and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK. She is a member of the British Pain Society (Honorary Secretary 2002–2004)
